Michael Cook and Bridget Salyer
Outland Real Estate was founded by Michael Cook and Bridget Salyer in 2017 with a vision of creating long-term value by building a portfolio of safe, well-appointed workforce housing communities. With that vision in mind, along with 45 years of combined real estate experience in acquisitions, renovations and property management, the founders developed a vertically integrated platform in order to execute a holistic approach to ownership and operations.
Mike’s background has bridged the areas of acquisitions, (re)development and construction, and asset management, while Bridget has spent her career developing a scalable centralized property management platform. Under their leadership, Outland RE, is or was a General Partner in 15 AZ properties totaling 1700 units, at an acquisition cost of $188 Million and an Improvement budget of $25 Million.
Previous to Outland, Mike was a partner at Sundance Bay (http://www.sundancebay.com ), a real estate investment firm focused on the acquisition, redevelopment and management of multifamily assets in select US markets. As the partner in charge of Redevelopment, Mike guided Sundance’s redevelopment strategy, leading the team’s effort in repositioning over 1700 units, at an acquisition cost of $71 Million and an improvement budget of $34 Million.
Earlier in his career Mike founded C&C Partners, a NYC RE firm that provided high-net worth individuals with owner representation for residential and commercial real estate projects. In addition, he worked on the project team at Zeckendorf Development’s 15 Central Park West, where he was responsible for managing the interior finish construction of a $2 Billion condo project. Mike has earned a Bachelor of Arts from Claremont McKenna College and a Master’s in Real Estate Development from Columbia University.
Bridget has been an AZ designated broker since 2000. After spending the early part of her career as an executive with Bliven Property Management and Caliber Asset Management, she founded Diamond Asset Management in 2011. Throughout that time Bridget and her teams have successfully managed over 5000 market-rate, affordable and LIHTC multi-family units. Bridget has earned a Bachelor of Arts in Management and an AAS degree in Accounting.
